Cardshift logo first draft

Posting this on behalf of @Jay1148 because he is having some issues getting image up:

"Hey all. Just to introduce myself. I'm Jeremiah, or Jay. I have been dubbed the Creative Director. Here are two logo designs. I decided to go with Cyborg Chronicles as a rename for the "vanilla" name. Let me know what you all think, or if you have any suggestions. I am partial to the all black one myself. Cheers."

I really like both of the logos, but my favorite is the 1st one with the more condensed layout.  As far as specific criticism, I am no graphic artists but here are my suggestions. Maybe the color could be a little bit darker for the word Card.  The C looks like it is crowding out the rest of the words.  Possibly one fix for this would be to lower the "ard" part more towards the middle, and maybe make the "cyborg chronicles" a little bigger to compensate.  I love everything else about this logo though.

The second logo is good also, but I would suggest using something other than the "damaged" look for the font of the word Shift.  It looks great in the first logo but when it is larger, it is not as eye catching for me.  Maybe some kind of a motion blur type effect would better convey the "shifting"ness of the name.

Overall, excellent first draft! Thanks for putting this together for us Jay.

GreyWolf and I talked about this in person. Here are some comments. I also collected a few from chat from others.

In General

- I think this shade of red is good, it catches the eye without being annoying. It remains to be seen how well it would blend with the back of a card, depending on the colors of the background. It may look good also with a greyish blue, though a bit more bland.

- I think "cyborg chronicles" should use a monotype font, probably Consolas to match the word "Card". Someone also suggested to capitalize like "Cyborg Chronicles" but that may change the alignment a bit. Personally I like small letters just fine.

- The "SHIFT" font suggests like a quake, as if it were a shift in tectonic plates causing an earthquake. Someone suggested to try maybe a motion blur or other effect instead, to suggest movement perhaps.

Top logo

- We think the size/shape of this logo would look great on the back of a card. Probably not so much on a web site, although we could still use it if we used say a vertical menu on the left instead of horizontal menu.

- The bold vertical "C" red line seems very thick, it may look better if it was maybe 25-30% thinner or more even. Or perhaps hollow it out and make the outline of the line the same thinkness as the rest of the "C".

Bottom logo

- We think this one would look great on a website, or say, a game box or board, but no so much on a card due to its elongated shape.

- I think you should work in that red color, perhaps the hand of cards outline would look good in red.
