Hey all. Just to reiterate, I have come up with a replacement name for “vanilla”: Cyborg Chronicles. I believe it fits the Cyber Punk/Futuristic theme we all have been throwing around; which I really like that as a starting theme. That name can change per set we release.
My main reason for this post is I thought of a really interesting idea to make this game stand above the rest. I want to put it into context and even provide some examples of how it will be used. I will go over some key points I want to expand on.
Mana Pool: Resource used to cast/summon units, spells, traps, and equipment/upgrades. Mana will only produce 1 per turn, starting at 1 on the first turn, unless a card specifically adds to a player’s mana pool. Mana limit is TBA.
Forge points: Resource used to activate Forge Effects to Forge Summon/cast cards from a side deck. Forge Points do not replenish automatically. Forge Points can be added too by card effects, creatures that are destroyed, or cards that are used as a tribute as a result of a Forge Effect. Most, if not all, units will have a Forge Value predetermined that adds to a player’s Forge Points if destroyed or if an effect is activated. Forge value and limit is TBA.
Normal Effect: Would draw from the Mana Pool to use. It could be any number of things.
Forge Effect: Draws from the Forge Points. Mainly would be used to combine certain cards that you would have on the field to Forge Summon a more powerful card from the side deck.
Normal Summon: pretty self-explanatory. Draws from your mana pool, summons/casts a card to the field.
Forge Summon: Uses Forge Points to combine cards with specific attributes/rules in a Forge Effect to bring out a more powerful card from the side deck. The cards used would go to the graveyard unless otherwise stated by the forge effect. You cannot Forge Summon a card unless you meet the specific criteria stated in the forge effects of the specific cards.
*Side Deck: This deck is determined by the types of cards in your main deck and any forge effects on those cards. A card is only summoned from this deck when the player casts the necessary cards with the necessary forge effects.
*I was thinking that in the main menu where a player can build decks and view their cards, calling that Forge. Also when you build your deck there will be a side deck that shows you what cards are available per the cards and card effects you have in the deck you are building. Essentially it will help you strategize and build combos, your own personal Jarvis.
Here are two examples (values, names, etc. are undetermined):
1. Player plays unit card “Mad Scientist” and two unit cards “Scientist”. Then user casts enchantment card “Grant” that states “All units with Scientist in their name gain +2/+2. <Forge Effect> at the cost of (x) FP – Combine 3 Scientist Cards to Cast “Science Committee”. (This would be a more powerful card.)
2. Player has two spell cards in their hand. “Version 2.0” – Revive one unit with attack equal or less than (x). – Forge Effect < When combined with “Scrap Book” for (x) FP cast “Dummy’s Guide to Raising the Dead”. Second Spell card: “Scrap Book” – Target one unit in the graveyard. Gain Forge Points equal to the Forge Value of that unit. – Forge Effect < When combined with “Version 2.0” for (x) FP cast “Dummy’s Guide to Raising the Dead”. The player would then drag one card over the other and okay the combination, or go to their side deck, find the card and cast it that way. Then they would play “Dummy’s Guide to Raising the Dead” – Target one unit in the graveyard, and return them to play. Gain FP equal to (x) x that unit’s FP Value.
Let me know what you all think, and if you have any questions about this idea. I also think that we should start deciding the values of the key attributes that most all cards will have (mana, atk/def or health, player health. Mainly how the mechanics will work with our game compared to the others out there.)
Cheers.
